Steps in the counselling process:

To establish rapport between the client and counsellor :

  1. Encourage the client to talk about the feeling
  2. Validate the feeling with reflective listening
  3. Let the client have a chance to speak
  4. Provide missing information
  5. Talk about client goals
  6. Communicate
  7. Observer the sign of trouble
  8. Encourage to develop positive energy towards solutions
  9. Establish a regular schedule for follow up and give feedback
  10. Agree on what step what needs to be taken to change and modify the behaviour pattern.

How effective counselling?

A review of a clinical trial in (2003) showed that

Counselling provides short term, a modest improvement in reducing anxiety. Counselling gives good results and gives satisfaction to the client once they end with their session with a counsellor .
