Apartheid in Our Society – Red Rose Over Black Rose

Apartheid in Our Society

Nobody ever talked about how beautiful that black rose was, although from the same family everybody still loves the red rose more, they say black is the new “omg”, the new “in fashion” but they never make friends of the same color, I wonder sometimes if like face masks which promise to give us clean glowing skin does those masks come in marked as “SOCIAL MEDIA MASKS FOR HAPPY FACES ALTHOUGH BROKEN FROM INSIDE YOU CAN STILL HAVE A MESMERIZING DIL CHURANI WALI SMILE WITH THESE MASKS”.

I wonder if flowers were also deemed with criticisms because they are not beautiful as the rose or not as fully adorned with petals as the sunflower or if ever the moon was looked down upon because of those freckles it had on its surface, these are the signs of beauty, aren’t they? then why aren’t they looked down upon when the rose gets withered away or the half-moon is seen or that shooting star is seen as beautiful as a phenomenal thing, then why are humans on social media being harassed or put up with hate comments because they don’t match the definition of beauty you had set in your mind!!!

Why such discrimination over skin tone?

……..KYA KASOOR HAI MERA………

“EK LADKI KO DEKHA TOH AISA LAGA”

“HILTI KAMAR JAISE SNAKE, TERI SUNDARTA PE LIKH DO 2FT. LAMBA LEKH”

I know you are scared, I can hear your heart thumping, your blood sugar level rising at each step you take out of your house, your face covered in sweat even in this chilled romantic season of winter, I know your body is feeling caged with all those tight, skin fit jeans, a storm of thoughts has taken over your mind “WHY DO I NEED TO WEAR SUCH CLOTHES WHICH MAKE ME A SLAVE OF MY OWN BREATH” “IS WEARING THESE CLOTHES MAKING ME LOOK BEAUTIFUL”.

I know how it feels to dress yourself up like some showpiece just because you wanted to be accepted, being called beautiful. Since when did being slim, tall was defined as being beautiful and being dark-toned, fat defined as being ugly. Even the chemical equations aren’t constant as is the definition of being beautiful is.

I want to be the moon although adorned with freckles but still seen as beauty of nature, the shooting star that everyone wishes for, the white silver glitter pen on a black page, the withered rose in between the pages of your favorite book, the beast loved by the beauty, the icing on a black forest cake which makes it mesmerizing, the black cloth which is chosen over many white-colored clothes because it looks classy.

I want to be loved for who I am and not on how beautiful or how fair I am. “IS IT TOO MUCH TO ASK FOR”?

WHITE WINS OVER THE BLACK

She was not the kind of pretty girls you see in those magazines or the kind of pretty ever guy would rant about, she had a dark skin tone and was a little fat but for me, she was the kind of pretty where even oversized t-shirts looked so sexy on her, where most people struggled to pull off those nude lipsticks, she could easily pull them off. Nobody liked her as she was even her own mother didn’t call her pretty when she used to deck up in her favorite ethnic wear ready to burn that dance floor down, her friends used to mock her calling her a witch, whenever she used to put on her favorite red lipstick and that black dress of hers.

She had always been a sport fighting all the negativity out from her life but even a beggar gets tired knocking at the same door and still, there is no answer. Every day she used to get up with zest and every day that morale was let down by the ones she loved the most. She got so tired of people making fun of her skin color and her “plus-size” that she decided to take on this world and give them something new.

She tried every fairness cream which promised to make you fair in less than 10 days but how you could trust them when even they used models of fair skin color but sometimes you are so blinded by the thought of getting back at people that you actually start believing something which can’t be true.

Every day she used to starve herself to death, just so that she could get that body and that skin color and be loved and validated by all, every day she fought a fight with herself, her body, skin, and the world, but in the midst of fighting it all out, she forgets about herself, about who she was, about the constant fight that her brain fought with anxiety, depression, and whatnot.

Red Rose Over Black Rose

But even some of our greatest heroes died while fighting the enemies. She hadn’t lost hope even her last days but her brain and body had lost all hope, they needed a recharge in the midst of fighting against her own people she couldn’t help her own brain fight the battle between anxiety, depression, insecurities, and just like that we lost a soul, we lost beauty to this world who now doesn’t even remember her name.

Standards of Beauty; White is Beautiful

The white had won over the black, just because she was not the kind of pretty that everybody wanted her to be. Because she didn’t match the “standards of beauty” as prescribed in our society, we had to lose a pretty soul, a pretty human not by face but by heart to anxiety, depression, insecurities of being ugly.

We need to stop criticizing people or mocking over them just because they don’t match our level of pretty, because they are dark skin toned, because they are fat. You don’t know what impact could it have on their mental health and on their physical health too.

Everybody is fighting a war which we don’t know about so the least we can do is not engage them into another war, a war within them only.

Every human is born in a unique way and being pretty or beautiful just by face doesn’t matter, you need to be pretty from outside, but the kind of pretty from your soul, pretty from your heart because this world is full of demons with pretty faces but dark shady hearts.

This world needs more people who are kind at heart and pretty by soul…
