We live in a world where the success is equivalent to money not happiness. We live in a society where respect, money and fame differs for different professions. Medical profession is considered as noble while making a profession in any of the art forms is considered as waste of time. This the main reason why adolescents face personality crisis.
Most of the adolescents never really try to find out their passion and just continue their career on the basis of what society or their parents have taught them (foreclosure). These individuals usually face problem later in their lives. Some adolescents know what they really want but due to peer pressure or their harsh circumstances, they never really make an attempt to pursue their real interest (moratorium). These individuals often end up in living an unhappy life.
Some adolescents never really consider career as a priority. They take steps either on the basis of what infatuates them or on the basis of what their friends are doing (diffusion). And them comes achievers. They know what their passion is and they pursue it with full dedication and usually leads a successful and happy life (achievement).
These are four most basic personality crisis (foreclosure, moratorium, diffusion, achievement) usually every adolescent goes through. It is very essential to choose your career after lot of introspection and guidance. As a teachers or parent, one need to guide their students telling them the importance of work or career in an individual’s life.
