Impact of Domestic Violence on Women

Depression is like a rose which women tuck in their hair and roam everywhere

Share on PinterestShare on FacebookShare on Twitter

Depression is the second most important thing after Platelets, found in everyone’s blood. As the saying goes, “One who has the stick, has the buffalo. Women harassment and domestic violence are some major challenges we are dealing with. Women still lack mental strength even after the era of women empowerment.

“Bride is Pride”

We have forgotten that a bride is a matter of pride for the entire family. Married women are more on the list of victims. The harsh attitude of their in-law’s let their eyes bleed. Less dowry, lack of cooking skills are some of the common reasons for their anxiety. They wipe their tears with one hand and cook with the other. Rude behaviour of spouse creates an urge to succumb their life. Society needs to learn how to treat a woman. They get pissed off because of a wrong marriage. Neither she can stay nor go away. As our society does not respect divorcee, they deal with a different level of frustration.

“What’s a king without a queen”

Technology alone won’t change the mentality of some orthodox, they still hate a girl child. In remote areas, parents treat their girl child like a maid and that’s the stepping stone for tolerating all tantrums of their dear ones. From the very beginning, they are used to with the cruel behaviour of their family.  Later on, they easily digest violence and discrimination. These misogynists are brutally destroying the self-esteem of the young ones.

“Wemen are hard worker”

No! No! The spelling is correct, I missed a space before ‘m’ in the word wemen. We men are hard worker but bro women are smart worker. We know the law but dude they know the judge. Even in the corporate world, women are less chosen when it’s an important position which ultimately disrupts their growth opportunity. Always remember, we can become a gentleman alone but we need a woman to become a father.  As a gentleman, we must respect and love them.

“Making a new building by stealing bricks from our existing house”

Working spinster faces depression from two sides. In the corporate world, they deal with the arrogant behaviour of the boss. The long working hours snatch their golden time and on the other hand, they deal with the pressure of getting married soon. Parents treat them as a burden of their family and this kills their happiness. Getting beaten by hand hurts the body but getting slammed by words hit the soul hard. At one side they try to build their families standard and on the other side, they face challenges from the same family. They live in a dilemma about whether to continue the fight or stop feeding the family. They are so helpless that they feed milk to the snake who is always ready to bite. It is clear that women are still in depression due to domestic violence and we need to overcome this challenge. Hope you liked it and you will move forward towards a Violence free world for women.

Hello,
Thank you very much for sharing this article. Many women in India have faced domestic. That is bad for the proper functioning of the society. Women are an important part of the society too. It is rightly said that domestic abuse does take a toll on their mental health. Both, physical and verbal abuse is bad and you rightly said that getting beaten up hurts the body but getting abuses hurts the soul. It just hurts to see women in such a position.

Loved it, Beautifully written.Keep on writing

The domestic violence is happening to all the women either directly or indirectly. Not only in rural areas it is prevailing in cities too.

Parvathy M

Very relevant, it pains me to no end that our society is so sexist and misogynistic. The article was well written and the issues that you touched upon are very prevalent – a little more light could have been shined on the sexism women place in workplaces and about marital rape, apart from this, it was a really good article!

Heartfelt article, especially the line where it says about crying and cooking. I just felt at some place there is a little word placement error. Its really involving. Keep writing.

Jhanvi

The topic you have taken is very much sensitive and this domestic violence is not just an issue of one nation, infact it is prevailing everywhere. Very right about that this domestic violence either verbal or non verbal takes heavy toll on the mental heath of the women. Hoping that people gain some knowledge after reading this and make other people aware too, so that a mindshift can happen towards a positive side.

Vaishnavi S

Great writing. Your writing has thrown light on the real situation of many women. Change in men mentality regarding women can end domestic violence against women. Hope your article will bring such change.

Siya Naik

Domestic violance is very common in our society and it should stop. This article is great.

Radhika Saini

Women suffer daily & they don’t have an outlet for their feelings, emotions & anger.

Radhika Saini

Even if they express themselves they are considered ‘rude’ and ‘mannerless’ by the society.

Radhika Saini

We need to change this mentality or there will be no difference between old ages and today.

Radhika Saini

At that time they had to die by the practice of ‘sati’ and today they are killed by discrimination daily.

Radhika Saini

The article is amazing; would suggest you to pay a little attention to grammar portion.

Radhika Saini

Overall, it’s great. Kudos!
