I am a law student **surprise, surprise** and these are my observations from this particular field.
What is expected from you:
Law is all encompassing.
To be a law student, you need to be on your toes keeping yourself constantly updated, not just about new laws and cases but also anything happening around you, because law seeps into almost anything and everything. You must be ready to put in hours if research to get to the bottom of a particular case. You need to keep an eye on everything. The hours of work is worth it if you are passionate about the subject and you enjoy learning more about it. **That doesn't make you immune to break downs**
People will frequently want your opinion on several occasions because you are expected to have a deeper and better understand of existing and new laws. Its today's time, where law is frequently bend and flagrantly broken for the rich and powerful, studying law makes you aware of the injustices around you and empowers you. Ultimately law is a tool and it depends on how you use it.
What you need to do:
It can be rather exhausting at time and you need to manage your time effectively to stop getting burned out. In the long run, you need to have great physical and mental health to keep up with the rigours of the course. You need to eat a healthy balanced meal at fixed times, not skip your meals, regularly exercise and speak to your friends and family and keep them in the loop.
The skills required:
Quite obviously you need to have public speaking skills, persuasive skills. These skills can be developed be law school. Even if dont have great oratory skills, you definitely need the ability to peruse and examine documents and research for hours. You need to have people skills and should learn to cooperate and work with people as it necessary and you have to frequently reach out for the help and guidance of seniors.
What the course is usually like:
Studying of statutes, a bit of history and sociology for context.
Studying case laws and various types of laws, critically examining laws and cases and presenting cases and in several cases arguing fictional cases. In India, you can complete your LLB, a three year course or opt for an integrated course BBA.LLB, BA.LLB, B.Sc.LLB. There are private and government universities offering the courses.
Career options:
You can work in law firms or in corporations for providing legal advices. You can teach law in colleges after completing your LLM and passing the UGC NET. You can also write the bar exam and practice as a lawyer. There are lots of options available.

@gourisreekumar Hey Gouri, good to read something different---- a path I'd once loved to take as well. I have always been interested in Law. In fact, I am currently thinking about the different ways in which Law and Psychology can be inter- connected and worked upon as a unit. I would definitely like to see your take on this.
Since law was a field I'd wanted to pursue at some point, I would be looking more into the ways in which Psychology can be sqeezed into the legal system. Thank you for giving me that idea, indirectly.
Meanwhile, I wish you good mental and physical health. I hope this journey helps you learn, re- learn, and discover more about your strengths.
I was always fascinated by how people can remember the exact section and laws that a country has. Now I know what goes behind the scenes of a successful lawyer. I am in awe of this work always.
Thank you for sharing. Being a law student isn't easy but I have heard it's all worth it.
Would surely recommend you if someone asks me for advice in law
I hope you keep bringing justice to lives of those who suffered.
Thanks for sharing. Good to know more about law.
