We have to live in the present instead of the past or future.  I knew that we all exist physically in the present but also we have to understand that mental health is equally important as physical health. The state of mind has predominant control over the actions that we do. That is why we hardly perform our regular activities when we get depressed. It is not an easy task for an individual to get relieved of depression. Here I have given guidelines to come over the depression by yourselves. Firstly we can have a glance over what is depression.

Depression:

It is a mental disorder that makes a person have a bad mood or feeling of sad which leads them to think like a pessimist, possess catastrophic thinking and results in lowering self-esteem. This depletes the energy of the person and makes it difficult to move forward from that upset situation.

Why it is horrible?

When people get depressed they tend to sit idle. As we know that an idle mind is a devil’s workshop, this depression will create an illusion that the victim is incapable of performing any work. On the other hand, when the sufferer takes a step and gets failed, it will get even worse than the former situation. So dealing with depression is difficult. It does not mean that it is impossible to get out of the trap. Let us get into the guidelines that one should follow to get relieved from depression.

Self-guidelines to conquer the depression:

Rule 1: Spend time with well-wishers

Even though you try on your own to have an optimistic thought there will be various distractions that will ruin it. But when you get to your well-wisher they will be a support to enhance your recovery. It can be your friend or a family member or any well-known person. This small step is the tough part because this might make you feel low on yourself. Always remember that getting socialized with others at hard times is not a sign of weakness. It is a sign of maturity. I recommend a face to face interaction rather having a chat in social media.

If following rule 1 is difficult then you do any one of the following measures as a first step.

  • Spend time with your pet
  • Do support the social activities
  • Go for a walk

This initial step will decide the rate of recovery. When you do any one of these measures at times of depression you can feel the positive vibes emerging within you.

Rule 2: Relax and Rejoice

As said initially, mental health is incredibly significant. Keeping your mind calm and pleased will take you to the next level of healing from depression. There are known ways to relax but rejoicing depends on the type of person who you are and what you like. Meditation is the best known for relaxing yourself. I would prefer a good deep sleep of at least 8 to 9 hours to keep yourself calm. To make your mind delighted you can do your favourite hobby or sport or game. When it is a team sport it is much easier to get yourself into a different world.

Rule 3: Move on

When you are depressed it might be hard to put yourself into a group of people. But to relieve from depression you should move on from the initial stages. Refreshing yourselves will bring a great impact on your will power. You may get this refreshment when you do one of the given remedies.

  •  Go for a trekking or a trip with your friends.
  • Enjoy the natural breeze, watch the sunset, gaze at stars to feel flourished.
  •  Go for a morning jog or a walk with your friend which will strengthen your mind and body.

Rule 4: Maintain a healthy diet

You should realise that you are made of what you have. Because your food has an impact on your mood. Lack in B vitamins such as folic acid and B-12 can accelerate depression. To ensure vitamin adequacy,  have more citrus fruit, leafy greens, beans, chicken, and eggs. This will enrich you from inside and help you defeat the depression.

Rule 5: put an end to the catastrophic thinking

Catastrophic thinking can make things ruin and put you in a risky circumstance. Thoughts will reflect in our deeds so it is mandatory to have control over it. This also needs an effort from your side to get relieved. Don’t have thoughts of the past always and also don’t intimidate of your future.

These are the self-guidelines you need to follow to heal yourself from depression. Life is full of fluctuations, handling it is survival. Do not lose yourself into the traps of depression.
