Before we start to talk about handling envy we should first try to understand it. Envy is often confused with jealousy but these two are very different terms. In simple terms jealousy means when someone or something will be taken away from you and envy means when you want something or someone that belongs to someone else.
Now when a person feels envious emotions they need to ask themselves two questions
- Does the envy fit the facts in the situation?
- Will acting on it will get you what you want?
If the answer to your first question is no then there is no reason for you to feel envious but if the answer to your question is yes then that means that the other person has something that you want or need that you don’t have. Example a person is famous and you want that too and that is making you envious.
now if the answer to your first question is no then automatically the answer to your second question is no so in this case you need to change your thoughts. You need to appreciate what you have, all your blessings and try not to exaggerate what the other person has. But if the answer to your first question is yes then you need to break down your thoughts to answer the second question. You need to think that in a systematic manner that what can I do to achieve what the other person has. The goal should be to be inspired by the other person to do better in your life.
this is really amazing article.. buddy thanks for writing 🙂
Thank you so much for for feedback
amazing
Very well written!
Oftentimes envy and jealousy are terms that people often use interchangeably even though they aren’t the same. Bring out the difference is very educative. However, elaborating on how envy can affect one’s life and relationship together with how it can be tackled would be of great help to the readers.
Altogether, it is a well framed article. Keep up the good work!
this was very interesting. I actually got to learn about the difference in the meaning of envy and jealousy. The article could have been longer with more insight on these terms.
Crisp, but quite interesting. Personally, I didn’t know jealousy and envy were different
This is a deep topic if only you could have elaborated it! Great topic however ❤️
