Effects of having blind faith in concepts of religion and karma

” Blind faith in anything, will get you killed “

   – Bruce Springsteen

That’s true that blind faith may even lead to death. We need to question ourselves that, what’s the reason behind the actions or thoughts we do-follow as a part of our life?. When we talk of faith the first spark would be a God and followed by religion and so on. The concepts of religion is not an exception to the above statement, we should not blindly follow it because everyone else is following it. Many people get suffered because of this blind faith and being unaware of reality. In this article, we will deal with the effects of blindly following the concept of religion and also, we will discuss the same with the karma.

Religion:

There is no valid definition for the region. It can be said as the worshipping of superhuman powers. whenever science fails to prove some activities it is considered to be done by superhuman otherwise we can say it as God. The concept of religion is a cluster of opinions correlating the origin, nature, and purpose of the cosmos, especially when considered as the creation of a God, usually involving devotional and proper traditions, and constantly comprising an ethical principle regulating the behaviour of humans.

Effects of blindly following the concept of the region :

Instead of focussing on the general effects let me break down the effects into the following criteria.

Effect on children:

When the parents persuade them with devotional words and convey the myths to them, the children believe it without a valid reason and will not show interest in how the world has formed scientifically. They fail in the self valuation process by praising God at times of success and cursing them at times of failure.

Effect on relationships:

When it comes to several religions, each of them stands firm in their beliefs and consider the love affairs with the other religion as sin. This may not be predominant as the caste system but this too has its effects and even prevails in the contemporary world. One of the concepts is that marriages need a prerequisite which will be verified by the priest or oracle or astrologer. This is a promising way for fraudulent to earn more by performing some rituals.

Effect on health:

You may think that how the concepts of the religion are causing health problems but I do have strong points to support my statement. Fasting several days in a week forsake of God with the belief that every problem would get vanish from our lives. People tend to continue this fasting even at unfavourable health conditions. Apart from this, we do have certain superstitious worship methods like piercing the rod in mouth or shoulders, walking over nails, walking over the fire are themselves a good example of blind beliefs.

Effect on society:

It is still hurting me that we nearly use a thousand litres of milk, certain litres of ghee around the state for the so-called pooja on one side and the other side we have lakhs of children suffering from malnutrition. Another haunting fact is that people donate certain amounts to the temple irrespective of their economic stability. They do believe that their finances will develop if they contribute to God. In my opinion, this amount should be diverted to the trusts and helpless people.

Now let us get back to our next theme “karma”

Karma means…

Karma is a Sanskrit word (Kamma in Pali) means “action.” The law of karma refers to the law of cause and effect that is ” The aggregate of a person’s activities in this and prior states of existence considered as determining their fate in forthcoming existences.”

Effects of having blind faith in it:

I have seen two different effects on having belief in karma, one is that people avoid doing bad actions in the fear that it may return them and they immerse themselves in helping others and the other is that people will blame themselves at times of hardships caused by some other criminal and will let the incident that karma will take care of the culprit.

To make you clear I’ll give you an illustration on the latter one. Capitalism itself a great example of letting the karma take care of the person who rejoices in the output of hard work of labours. When labours are not given the right wages for their work they blame themselves for their position and fail to have a thought of protest or questioning the authority. I heard such people saying that the karma of making use of their work will pay them hard. But the reality is it pays as an amount, not as revenge. At some times when the people get robbed or abused they tend to say that karma will punish them and no need to file the police complaint against them.

Question every action you do and find whether it has a logical reason behind it. Try to differentiate faith and blind faith. Because having faith in relationships is inevitable you do not question your faith in that case. People should learn to act accordingly to the situation, rather understanding the viewpoint improperly. Do not have blind faith in anything, at the same time this doesn’t mean do not have faith. I hope you will get the difference between the two terms. Let the superstitious belief get vanished in our forthcoming generation.

What do you think?
