When i was a child, i was being told what i want to become when i grow up. Those were not my aspirations but were simply what we can call were Indian parents aspirations. While growing up did a lot of experimentations myself either it was helping my mom inn the fields or it was trying to fix up my barbie doll fever with my so called fake injection. Getting good marks is what mostly parents tell their children is their ultimate goal rather than telling them to learn from their failures. I ever had that so called "My Tribe" kind of friends because half of them used to think i am a nerd and other half thought i am not as cool as they are. Taking humanities as my stream after scoring 9.8cgpa came as a lot of disappointment not just to my parents but also to my relatives whom i have never met i my whole life till now.

Fought for this with my parents and they finally agreed. This was the first time when psychology was introduced to me plus surprisingly it was the only subject  whose teacher was changed  thrice i these 2 years time frame. Then i did my graduation and then post graduation in psychology. Till date, i don't know what i want to be because what i have realized that life is more beautiful and good when you live in the moment. I might have been like the others and would have worked backwards for achieving my goal but what i decided was to let it happen. i wanted to explore, experience and then decide what is suitable for you. I mean how can someone especially a child can be sure of what would be good for him/her.

Don't just give upon yourself and be scared because nobody else know your potentials more than you do. Experience whatever life gives you everyday and once you understand what is your purpose in your life, work for it with your full heart.

Hello Tanya. Thank you so much for sharing this with us. I've had similar experiences where people who have know nothing about me and are far relatives making me feel like I've done some sin. I was lucky to have my parents support. It's sad that even in this age and time people think that some field is for such and such people. So we she take it upon ourselves to break the stigma and show that every field holds value today. You're very inspiring. Good luck.

I too had a similar childhood were all the decisions were made by my parents. Iam happy that finally you could decide for your self. No matter what people say, never give up!

amazing. we are always more capable than what we think of. being scared of something reduces our self esteem. knowing what is good for us actually promotes us in exploring self.

This is so motivating, I guess every parent always have that image build already from their minds from the very first they always want the best for us, which is sometimes it is hard to catch up with and sometimes expectations are very high but it seems like you've overcome it. It was nice to see you prove something and choose yourself. That was a brave thing to do. APPROVE 😉 😊
