Never Let Go!

Growing up in a strict family was really difficult for me. Most of my choices were made by my parents. Even though their intentions were good, those decisions didnt bring much good to me. I was one of the hardworking students during my school. I didnt really have an interest area, i just, you know, went with the flow. Scoring marks was the only important thing for me. But later when i got more exposure, when i started dealing with more people, somewhere i started to develop an interest for the subject Psychology. I didnt have any idea in the beginning, later i began reading about it online. I understood some of the scopes in Psychology. To convey my interest to my parents was actually a 'task'. After my 10th even though i wanted to continue with arts, they decided science for me. Still i never left my interest for studying psychology. While doing my 12th, i started to search colleges to apply for psychology. When i applied at Indian Institute of Psychology and Research (IIPR) Bangalore, my parents were not happy. Even though i completed my graduation and is currently pursuing my post graduation in Psychology at Jain University, Bangalore, i can say that they are not fully convinced yet. But iam 100% sure of the face that my parents will be proud of their daughter one day. No matter what you should never let go of your dreams. People will try to stop you, they will make you believe you are wrong, but promise yourself that you will never ever fall for it. Work hard and never let go!

You rock girl. Remember that you are supposed to support and love yourself and after you do that your parents will ultimately realise where your happiness lies. I think you should try to inform them more about the field and make them feel good and satisfied.

My parents still don't fully understand what I am doing so I can kind of relate to you in that sense! Let's make our parents proud!

Best of luck for the future. Look forward to reading more from you.

Your wish and passion is more important than your parent's. Keep always pursuing your passion. All the best.

You are a brave person and I'm really happy for you. Standing up to parents is something a lot of kids struggle with and that even causes them anxiety and depression.

Thank you so much for sharing you journey!

Kudos to you for doing what you like! So proud of you. I know convincing parents can be a bit of a task sometimes but let it, they'll just come over to this fact that you're an amazing psychologist! Nd sure, they'll be really proud of you one day. I really love how you continued with psychology even tho you're parents weren't too happy.  There's a lot of stigma attached to Psycholgy, mental health and therapy and that's why there are people like us, mental health advocates who wanna work in this field. I really wish you luck for your future and may your parents soon happily come around the idea of you being a psychologist. Good luck 🙂

They still are proud of you, they might not show it to you because you defied them but yeah they are proud and if you feel otherwise someday have a conversation about this with them; you will get to know.

Amazing journey. Be proud of yourself. Just keep working sure one day your parents gonna be proud of you Btw that strict family is so relatable. They just love us but their possessiveness make us to stop doing wt we love to do. But Everything is just for our good cause. All the best for your future. Best wishes ❤️

You did the right thing. I regret my choices everyday. Unlike you, I put my parent's choices as a priority. They are happy now but I ain't. So yeah just wanted to say, parent's happiness will mean nothing if you are not happy.🙂
