( The following poem mentioned has been inspired by my own life, a phase which nevertheless made me think of all the pessimistic parts of the world. And I may give a wild guess and neutrally say that everyone goes through this and it’s okay. It’s okay if you’re letting yourself fall if you have promised to get up again. Breaking and healing is just a process, what you learn from it and use it for your growth is all that matters. No one’s gonna promise you that it’ll be an easy period, but if you hold on to yourself, in something you believe in. You will for sure come out of it with ultimate strength and courage. Don’t be sorry to stand up for yourself. )
She folded her life like origami,
Made what was large into something so small,
Bending and creasing her edges,
Until she filled almost no room at all,
She’d learnt to always say sorry,
That she was a burden for taking up space,
And so into herself she was folded,
Locked in her own suffocating embrace,
The world tore at all of her edges,
Once sharp corners had started to fray,
Now so tiny that nobody noticed,
As she slowly began to decay,
Reduced to just ashes of moments,
The wind swept her up off the floor,
And her pieces were scattered in places,
She’d not dared to inhabit before,
As her eyes took in all of the beauty,
Of the world she’d lived life deprived,
She learnt there’s no need to say sorry,
Taking up space simply means you’re alive.
a one of a kind post. the first poem i’ve read on this site. amazing work!!! 🙂
Poems are such raw outlets for emotions. It was very touching
This is just so beautiful. I love how you have written the poem and just the perfect set of words as your intro. It leaves a greater impact on the reader than you will never know. Being someone who loves poetry and everything philosophical this just was the food for my soul. Your ending of the poem just made us alive all over again. Somehow I wish you added a end set of words also….
