Period Drama.

Have you ever come across a sanitary napkin commercial where the blood has been depicted as ‘blue’? Or why does the lead in the period commercial always a woman?Period Drama

The mainstream media has successfully condition da feelings towards menstruation we have been taught to believe that menstruation is gross, scary and especially meant to be kept as a secret. Often called as period, it has always been taken as a hush topic.

Menstruation can be defined as a natural regular discharge of blood and mucosal tissue from the uterus the process lasts for 3 to 7 days for every month and generally and individual begins to menstruate by the age of 13 to 15 years of age.

how media represent menstruation

Media has a very important role in shaping young minds the negative message portrayed by the media is proving to be damaging about bodies in general should be taken as a completely normal biological process the unrealistic standards set and therefore the goals that are not being met is another issue that needs to be tackled.

Another important aspect which needs to be taken into account is how the advertisement of menstruation is only targeted to a particular section of the society the way the product advertised as ‘feminine’. Fact : female is not the only reason that bleeds. Yes! you heard that right. Lack of knowledge has made us turn a blind eye to the other equally important section which might have similar requirements.period stains and its mental affect

We ought to disagree with the media when it calls menstruation as a “woman thing”  We have been restricted as audience to attain the right to hold adequate information about menstruation .

It is important to treat this as a natural detoxification process And it is high time we speak up and normalize it, period!
