We see people say each other that forget about whatever happened in the past and move on but ‘Do we really move on?’. The answer maybe ‘No’ for most of the people. Some people lives into their past and it is like their past is haunting them and because of that they do not enjoy their present moment. Remembering past ruins our present and if our present is not good then future will be same like present. There is a thin line between living in present and living in past. Most of the people wants to know ‘how they can forget their past’. At every happy moment, some people finds themselves clinging on their past, they find themselves stuck into that and do not know how to get out from that. Sometimes past takes a toll on mental state and that can cause sleep deprivation which results into insomnia. So the question arises, how we can let go our past and try to live in present and enjoy every possible moment of life.
Thinking about past is like ‘we are giving permission to past to control our present and future’. Past makes us the victim and it always seems like we are lost into it. As Steve Maraboli said in his statement
“Cry. Forgive. Learn. Move on. Let your tears water the seeds of your future happiness”.
Our past always break down us and the moment we breaks down is the moment we cry. The best thing one can do is to let his/her emotions flow. After crying, a person feels much better than before but most of the people do not cry, they just hide their emotions, feels like crying can make them weak. It is not about weakness, the fact that we have to understand here is the frustrations we have in our mind because of our past should come out, let the tears express everything after that there should not be crying thing anymore, no scream, no more frustrations, it is totally should be of completely moving on and starting fresh, to live a happy life. Share your past with your loved ones, a person would definitely feel better because keeping it inside always hurts so try to share it with your family, friends,etc.
People feel guilty about the mistakes they have done in their past and could not being able to forget it. We all have to understand that do not let the yesterday’s mistakes to affect our today’s. The mistakes which we did in past should not get repeated and that is the thing we should learn. Sometimes we takes blame of our past on ourselves, ‘Forgive and Forget’. One should be able to forgive and forget about it.
When our past comes in front of us, we becomes negative and everything gets messed up. A lot of negative thoughts starts popping up into our mind but in that case, we should not let the negative thoughts controls our mindset if we did, we will end up being depressed. Having negative thoughts ruins our present positive life. Yoga really helps a person to let go these negative thoughts and be optimistic in life.
One should also see the positive side of past like how they spend their beautiful childhood days, memories which we should look down to or anything else of the past which is completely full of happiness and positivity. We have been always taught, “we should learn from our experiences”. Take past as an experience and learn something from it. If somebody else mistake is their then we should not wait for an apology and play a victim card over here. Waiting for them for an apology is not something we should do in present instead we should work in present for better future. Acknowledgments is necessary in life, if in the past we have done some mistakes, we should acknowledge it and move forward, holding things (past) together will not give anything.
Present matters the most in our life whatever actions we take at present will going to reflect in future. So our present needs to be good and to be more focused rather than thinking about past and not letting the future happens in that way what we have planned. We must try to live at present moment, we should be happy about whatever we have and try to achieve more in future by not taking past with us at every point of our life. If we really want to take something from past then we must take the good moments and the experiences which taught us the most.
Every turn of our life depends on our present, we must try to keep our present days happy because tomorrow these days going to be past and when we will look down to those days, they would definitely put a smile on our face.
