Mental health is something which I don’t used to take seriously till last year. I went to Kota after my 12th class boards in 2018. Kota is known as the education hub of India. Initially things went off well but after a point of time I started facing a lot of difficulties. There was a time when I didn’t even have the energy to get up from bed and attend the classes.
I still blame myself for that carelessness. I never realized that it was depression that was affecting me. In India, no one believes in mental health. Gradually my physical health started worsening. Somehow I survived that one year. I couldn’t make it to my dream college or course. I didn’t have the energy to work more for my dream of becoming a doctor. After a lot of research I opted for graduation in psychology and now I know that it was clinical depression.
I wish someone had told me to consult a psychologist back then but just because people are not aware about mental health in India I couldn’t get any help. Trust me giving up on the only dream you have since childhood is really difficult and is not a joke.
