The life of social media influencers are miserable since they often fake their perfectly curated lives to the extent they lose their sense of self and as sad as it is, the trend for it keeps rising. They're ordinary people with power that can control a mob and people readily give themselves up for such which is a very sensitive issue. To read more about this, head to the link below. We need to be united and work on such elements that can bring the society down.

The article was so interesting! But are motivational speakers worth listening to over influencers? Maybe they also have hidden private lives that we don't know as well.

I agree with you there. I felt the same towards the end when I read that. I prefer philosophical books, selected podcasts and experiencing things on my own and learning from them.

Interesting article. Although, I don't agree completely.

I agree that are some influencers with "fake it till you make it" attitude but there are influencers who do influence people about the right things. They do share their insecurities with their followers.

Whereas, there are some motivational speakers listening to whom we might feel pressurized to have things in a certain way.

In the end I think it's really up to us. It is our job to understand what effect somebody has on us and whom should we look up to.

I agree that a bigger part of the responsibility is on us. The focus here is on the new-gen influencers who fake it and misuse the attention they get. There are always exceptions and we should be more mindful and not let even the good influencers over-influence us and take control instead empower ourselves with the thoughts they give us.
