Why do Women Mental Health Issues are less talked about??

Women – a person who faces the battle before her birth to live in this world when she is in the womb of her mother. A person who has to maintain good relations with everyone, stay polite, sit properly because this is how she is suppose to behave .

The one who has to learn all the household work since her childhood so that she could maintain her family ahead. This is the most common mentality joined with the word women. She is told to dress properly , walk properly , speak properly otherwise who will marry her.

A girl is often told don’t eat too much , if you become too fat no one will marry you . ” khoko khelte giri toh gao se pehle dekha muuh ka daag , nishan rahega toh kon karega shaadi , bas yehi hai raag ”.

She is made to learn cook food not for her but for the survival of the others. A married women who faces problem in maintaining relations with her partner she is told – ”sabar karo rishta nibhao, she is told – mard aise he hote hai, she is told to put herself in her husband shoes because he is been raised to be the provider of the family, to be her protector. Women are constaltly told to put her own needs backword , to be more understanding, to be more forgiving, usne thapad mar diya toh kya hua ek thappad he toh tha na , halka sa gussa aa gya hoga mard ko kabhi kabhi aisa ho jata hai maaf kardo  ”.

She is told if you will not manage your relationship so what other people will talk about you, people will speak that you didn’t compromise enough , you were weak because strong women are more tolerant.

The mental issues of a women are less talked about because we are a part of society which believes that a women is supposed to fulfil her duties. Through various researches it has been justified that women faces mental health problems and the ratio is excessively high.

The suicide rate of women is high. Depression cases have become common now because they are too many in number. But these issues are ignored by the society because the society is more concerned about the duties of a women which she is suppose to fulfil even if she is not able to tolerate it. women have to maintain their reputation in the society and this have become a patriarchy now.

how we can change this ? –

1. By increasing awareness, the more we will talk about these issues, and raise our voice, the more the awareness will increase.

2. A women is an enemy of a women. The same custom is being followed from one generation to the next. It is the women only who can put a full stop to it. So making a women understand to raise their voice and stop following it.

3. By organizing help facilities programs which will help women to tackle their problems.

4. Talking more about the issue through stand up comedy, tedtaks, posters, captions etc.

5. I will myself take a stand if i see someone following the irrelevant norms.

Its not easy to change thought of a person, it is  process which takes time so we should patiently talk to the person to make them understand our point.

Thank you
